Unknown Spanish Coin (1867)

    Sorry for the lousy pics - this is a tiny coin & I don't have my lens handy to shoot through. The denomination reads "Medio Centimo" - is that 2.5 Centimos?

    It's looks a lot like the Centavo on this list, but it's 15mm (not 18mm). Did the list neglect the 2.5 centavo?

    The NGC population report is awfully sparse for a 2.5 Centimo - is that because this is a rare coin or just not a widely collected one? Also, how do I discern between the 2 mints (Barcelona & Segovia)?

    Hmm, a medio céntimo is a half centimo. I know, it's so much easier if a denomination is clearly indicated by digits, but there are cases where the government just won't do that, and uses confusing words such as "half" or quarter" instead. :rolleyes:

    The mint is indicated by the numbers of points that the stars have. Would have to look that up ...

    [Facepalm]. Well, it makes sense that it's smaller than the centavo, at least!

    1/2 centimo de escudo 1867, bronze, weight - 0,92 g., size - 16 mm, thickness - 0,5 mm.
