unknown mark on 1964 Proof quarter

    There is something i cannot identify on the right (as you look at it) wing of the eagle. It extends diagonally downwards with a mark about halfway down and then turns horizontally. in the horizontal part is a small lump. Does anyone know what this is please

    I am leaning towards staple scratch. Although the photos aren't clear enough to be sure.

    In your first photo there appears to be a gouge or a scrape with metal pushed out on both sides. My first thought was a scratch from a staple.

    I don't know where it would have been scratched as it was in a round hard plastic container when i saw the mark. I only removed it to take photos and put it temporarily in an unstapled 2x2 for protection.
