I found this quarter with an odd error that I have never seen before. There is lettering on the collar of the coin on both the obverse and reverse, though it is more visible on the reverse. It looks like a die clash, but only on the collar, and there is no other clashing elsewhere that I can see. Has anyone else seen this type of error before? Is it just a weird type of die clash, or a pivoted die? I have been trying to think how the marks could have been made on the die or the coin, without there being any other errors along with it.
Great find. I forgot what it is called but it is a mint error. @Pickin and Grinin did you mention something about this issue once?
Oh I think I got it.. Rim restricted strike http://www.error-ref.com/rim-restricted-second-strikes/ That could be it. IMHO
