    Canadian Bank token

Here are scans of a Canadian token I've had for years. I was surprised to see Gold rounds for sell with the same Obverse image.

Why did you need to post your coin in this thread, cannonmaker1, when you already have another thread about it?

Year 8 of the Taisho emperor. Be around 1920, 1 sen.

Many thanks Ripley. The Chrysanthemums were a clue, but not having a date threw me.

I believe one 100 sen equals to one yen

    That's correct

Not in Japanese! The only inscription on that side is "ichi sen" = "1 sen".

The obverse is correctly oriented, and must be read right to left. At the top it reads "Dai Ni Hon" = "Great Japan". The bottom sayd "Taisho hachi nen" = "Taisho [Imperial Era name] 8 year". That date is the equivalent of 1919

You may be able to get more answers in the "world and ancient coin" section. I would post them there.

I have had this in my family since the 60's. Did you find out its value or purpose?

This coin was collected by my father in the 1960's. I know nothing about its possible value. Any assistance would be appreciated.
