Canadian Bank token Here are scans of a Canadian token I've had for years. I was surprised to see Gold rounds for sell with the same Obverse image.
same coin http://www.cointalk.com/t159236/ Click here. Hopefully it works. I have this same coin from the 60's
Why did you need to post your coin in this thread, cannonmaker1, when you already have another thread about it?
Let me pick your brains some more... I bought this one included in a collection 3/9/11. Does anyone recognize this?
I know it says "winner" on the first character on the top left corner of the four.....that's all I can tell you
That's correct Not in Japanese! The only inscription on that side is "ichi sen" = "1 sen". The obverse is correctly oriented, and must be read right to left. At the top it reads "Dai Ni Hon" = "Great Japan". The bottom sayd "Taisho hachi nen" = "Taisho [Imperial Era name] 8 year". That date is the equivalent of 1919
You may be able to get more answers in the "world and ancient coin" section. I would post them there.
to Hontonai: You're talking about picture #25 and I do know how to read it as well and you are correct and it is upside down....but my comment was for picture #22 on the same page which is upside down too and that's a chinese medal/coin
This coin was collected by my father in the 1960's. I know nothing about its possible value. Any assistance would be appreciated.
