My previous best of this type was a nice <a href="https://www.pcgs.com/cert/34587356" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.pcgs.com/cert/34587356" rel="nofollow">1818 PCGS MS62 BN</a> example, which had quite a lot of red remaining for a BN coin. I suspect that piece came from the Randall Hoard, which had been found in a keg under a railroad platform in Georgia in 1869. I sold that Mint State example during lean times several years ago, and miss it. However, this current 1822 coin, despite being just shy of Mint State (AU58) is still quite appealing, and a bit scarcer.
