    Congrats Andrew. Here are my Probus coins. As much as the bust types are interesting I find the reverses more exciting. The engravers were able to show a dynamic energy to the subjects they cut, especially when it comes to horses...

    EF with wonderful smooth dark brown/black glossy patina. Even nicer in hand.

    i have also acquired some coins from the Philippe Gysen collection :


    This Gallienus appealed to me because the heroic obverse bust is one more normally associated with Probus a few years later. Does anyone have earlier examples ?

    Rare.



    The last coinage of Postumus. PACATOR ORBIS conveys the message of a speedy victory over the renegade Laelianus but Postumus is then murdered by his own troops (about February / March 269 ?).

    Just found in my old boxes. Struck at Antioch, the coin of Probus below has Z dot in lower center. Hope it's rare.

    I finally received the coin and imho it looks much better in hand and in my photo than it does in the auction photo. What I thought was some random goop on the coin is in fact left over silvering.
