It seems as though the mint is handling more than it is capable of. Somewhere between the shipping, billing, and packaging, the mint seems to have a lack of communication. I hope they are aware of the situation, and better yet are working on fixing it. They should realize how impatient many people can be, especially when they can't track their order half the time.

That was supposed to be a date, I thought you would have picked up on that, after reading my first post

A couple things to remember about the mint. First off, when a release date is given for sales of coins/comms this only means that you can RESERVE your order. It doesn't mean they are minting them and mailing them out at this time. Also, "in stock and reserved" means that your order has been taken and you are reserved that item to be shipped to you. The mint will always show a charge soon after on your credit card, this is only verification that your card is good and valid. Most times it is removed at a later date unless the coin is being mailed soon after this verification process. When a coin is released for sale, the mint has never specified that it is also shipping them immediately. I think that at times there are a quantity of these ready to go which explains why some get these soon after release date, but my experience has always shown that there will always be delayed date for these unless you are buying something thats been available for some time and has not been sold out. I've dealt with the mint for a few yrs and others that have too, know that you have to have patience when dealing with them. I ordered the Lincoln Comms myself and received them soon after my order which I thought was pretty lucky. I also ordered the lincoln cents, they show "in stock and reserved", and I haven't seen a verification with my credit card as of yet. I just sit back and just forget about it till they reach my mailbox. I'm not out to re-sell them and make a profit anyway, just going in a drawer.

It has been my experience that the boys and the girls at the US Mint have shipped the item as soon as the card is charged. I've even had the item hit the mail box before the card was charged.....:)

What I don't understand is they give a release date and people have the coin prior to the release date.

By the way who cares about the box or the papers. Boxes can be replaced & the papers can be copied. Honestly those things don't effect the price of the coins.

Release date... sale date... I don't know. It makes sense to me that if you know the coin design and you know the release date then you should be obligated to have at least some on hand for shipping to the lucky first purchasers that get through the first hour or two that they are on sale. I know they don't charge me until they ship my items. But I don't think I have had this many pending orders back ordered or in stock reserved or whatever in my life! Poor management makes for unhappy (read frustrated) customers. Alas we mortals are at the mercy of Mr. Moy and Company. There just aren't any other US Mint's competing with THE US Mint.

I called the Mint today about a order I placed for some 2008-W AGE $10 UNC. coins. The rep told me it was a bogus order because they haven't made any yet and he was going to report me......I said "what the hell are you talking about, I already have some and this was my last order". I ask to speak to a supervisor and he said "theres not one". I hung up called back and another rep took my order # and said "your coins shipped today".

WTF is going on with Pitney Bowes ????
They are @#$%&* terrible, the worst service that I've had in 11 years of dealing with the Mint.....:rolling:..:hammer:....:headbang:

:loud: HEY MOY SAY BYE-BYE TO PITNEY BOWES....:hail:
AND MAKE US COLLECTORS HAPPY AGAIN..:bow::bow::bow::bow:

I do agree there has been more of a problem lately with shipping than in the past!

Aaah what a revelation to find that Pitney Bowes is involved as well. My experience with that company has been extraordinary. I have one of my assistants on the phine with them for hours at a time whenever there is a slight problem with our mailing system. If you combine their Swiss watch like efficiency with that of the Mint's I'm afraid that what is produced can only be described as a "black hole" of customer service. Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances folks.

Companies used to use Pitney Bowes to avoid the Post Office. Think about that

heres my experience, I haven't ordered directly from the mint since they confirmed I got a botanic garden set then later said that I was lying and no one ever told me that. And I wasn't one of the lucky ones to get it. So a couple weeks ago I break down and order a territories silver proof quarter set and an ASE online, I get the email confirmation that there were sets reserved for me with my order # and I see online where I placed the order, I also decided to get a suscription for the silver proof sets and the business strike sets, all of which showed on my order page when I ordered it. several days later I check online and it says I never ordered ANYTHING, EVER. So I call with my order # and the girl tells me she can see my order, in fact it is already in the warehouse being picked, she doesn't know why it isn't showing online but not to worry it probably will show back up. I realize it is 4-6 weeks or whatever but I still like to know that there actually is an order, especially since I paid. So I asked about my subscriptions, she said there were no subscriptions set up for me. So I told her what I wanted, 2 ea of the silver proof sets and 2 ea of the business strike mint sets, later I get my email confirmation that my subscription was set up for 2 silver proof sets and 2 regular mint proof sets! So I called back again to make sure I wouldn't put it off and forget and get charged and I told her what I needed, she cancelled the old order and placed the right order, repeating it back to me, and said I would get a new email confirmation, (I still can't view any orders online, still says I never ordered anything) never got the email confirmation, I decided to just forget about it, until today, when my friend that ordered the same day as me said he got emails saying his orders were cancelled and backordered. So I call again, today they guy says that my order is still good, it is still being processed, (so much for being picked in the warehouse like the other girl told me) so he says from what he can see none of my order was backordered. So I asked about my subscriptions, he said I was set up for 1 each silver proof, 1 each mint proof and 1 each business strikes! So they never got rid of the regular proofs and just added the business strikes, and lowered the quantity! I told him to just cancel the subscriptions I would straighten it out later, he said the computer wouldn't let him cancel it and I would have to wait till next year to do anything about it! so in what, 15 years I place 2 orders with the mint and both times they act like labotimized chimps! And they wonder why people don't buy as much from them anymore.
