moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

just been watching a tv programme called dickinsons real deal, which allows members of the public to sell antiques to dealers or go to auction. a young girl was on with an elizabeth I milled sixpence which she claimed she found in her change. the dealer offered her £30 and she accepted, the coin looked genuine and it went for a ridiculous price.....

The best thing that I ever found was $300 in $20's. I know that's probably not what this threads for, but it was laying on the ground! haha

My wife works in a grocery store and counts the money at the end of the nite. She has brought me home quite a few wheaties, a 1960 quarter, some 2005 bison nickels, and some really old canadians. She's learning what to look for. :)

Ask her to look for fancy serial numbers on notes too: stars (*), repeaters, solids, low SNs with many zeros in front of the numbers. Might spark and interest in paper collecting at least at face value.

She said she's seen some funny looking $1 bills before, that was before we were together tho. She's been working there for 8 years. haha There is some competition tho, cuz one of the girls has a bf thats a collector and one of the stock boys is starting to collect. But she counts all the money at the end of the nite so thats one up for me!

While working at a gas station I got a call one night asking if we accepted silver dollars. I said we sure did and hung up, thinking one of my friends were pulling a fast one, getting me all excited over nothing cuz they all know I collect and could cherrypick the till when closing. Lo and behold, a woman came in with $3 wanting a pack of cigarettes (not enough money) and one of the "dollars" was a sunshine mint silver round! I told her she could have the cigarettes, and as soon as she left I payed up the difference & bought the "silver dollar." Gives me a warm fuzzy fust thinking about it.

I found a 2005-P dime with a die break on the back of Roosevelt's head. It looks like he has a tumor growing off of his head.

I just got a 1975 doubled eye dime today! Awesome! Also have received a lot of centennial quarters, wheat cents, silver dimes and nickels, silver halves, and a pretty sweet numbered (repeating) $1! I have gotten a ton of copper pennies too. This small Alaskan village has some pretty old coins that never go anywhere! I'm roll searching now! lol

I found not one but three 1983 Philippine Pitheco'B'haga Mint Error Coins in my old window Air Conditioner! The only thing I can guess is my brother served in the Navy, and lived with me for about a year after he got out? Must dropped them in there?
The old lady brings home a '44 Mercury, and a Lincoln 1914 --- wait for it --- P --- AWWW so close!
No silver since the Mercury a couple years ago! I figured much of those got sucked up in the Silver boom of the early eighties...

Last night I realy thought I had me a Wide AM '99 - to the point I started getting gitty!!! But it was a no go!

I got a 1943 quarter today in change at a gas station, because the clerk knew i'd be in and collected coins. silver for face value can't be beat.
