Hey, I've got some ancients that have been sitting in a little flask of olive oil for about 2 years. I wonder what's left of them.. thanks for reminding me.

ha let me know whats left of them lmfao. Exciting news they arrived this afternoon and I spent some time organizing my work station to accomodate this long term project. I had ordered 10 coins but they gave me 12? so pretty happy atm also there seem to already be some decent images even before soaking so very optimistic I will attempt to post some pictures of them before they get their 2-3 water treatment :)

BTW i ordered these on the 7th of august from forvm and they were here today :D pretty good for the cheap 5$ shipping charge to canada :p

I do belive my lot came with a silve :D its not in amazing shape but after cleaning its no where near the same colour as the others the other 11 are a down brown with small bits of blueish green patina showing through this one not only feels different to touch but its colour under the brown dirt seems to be white? would that be a silver coin?

ok, I pulled the ancients out of that 2-year bath in olive oil. I wouldn't say it helped a lot other than giving them a "clay" smell. How long are you folks brushing these things?

used toothbrush to start then went to brass with the ones that were a pain in the butt lol circular motion n lightly at first then apply pressure gradually to see what comes off.

I would recommend distilled water first... great results

Be careful its not a silvered coin so be gentle with it or you may take the silvering off regards Harry :stooge:
