I wonder if the seller knew that it was a counterfeit. I very seldom buy anything from ebay.

Thank you. I realize now that I searched for "1803 Draped Bust Half Dime" and didn't see it. For obvious reasons.

The thing has a fin running around the edge on the reverse. That is not possible for a coin that is struck with no or an “open” collar.
