A very nice write up. To this day the some of the small pueblos of Spain and Portugal that I walked through while on the Camino de Santiago (French Way and then the Portuguese Way) still have names from the Moorish periods. I just started collecting coins from the era as a memento of my journeys.

Another nice write-up and yet another area I collect :). Don't have too many coins though, but here is a fals that I managed to pick up a while ago:

Umayyads of Spain, Emirate of Córdoba: 'Abd al-Rahman II (822-852) AE Fals, NM, ND (Album-347A; Vives-218; Frochoso I-2; BMC IX, p. 116, 63nn-rr)

Obv: Within triple beaded border, Arabic legend in three lines - لا اله الا الله وحده لا شريك له (There is no God but Allah alone. There are no others with Him)
Rev: Within triple beaded border, Arabic legend in three lines - محمد رسول الله (Muhammad is the apostle of Allah)

So cool! I don't have Islamic portrait coins except this one from Tabaristan, which is nowhere near as cool as your awesome Islamic portraits.

@stevex6 There you go my friend. There is a saying that goes like this: "Friends don't let friends use unedited pictures of cool ancient coins"
