Do the math. Count over the last week and see how many threads pertained to each proposed sub group. Also count the number of threads that cross over between two. This is my greatest objection to the split. I, for example, do not collect British coins as such but I do collect some coins that are British. I collect old coins to include ancients and medievals. My newest UK coins of interest are Tudor/Stuart hammered and I am equally interested in Russian, French, German, Asian and other hand made issues up to about the 17th century. If you split off a UK section that has 95% discussion of 20-21st century coins, I will miss out on the discussions that would be of interest.

I participate in more than one coin forum but find it a fact that the more often I visit to find no posts, the longer it will be before I visit again. Coin Talk rarely has a day where someone does not post something in the Ancient/World. Numismatic Society and Coin People are groups that go for days with no posts in the World/Ancient sections. If you are bothered by posts on subjects you don't collect, you must be prepared to support your new sub-sections with enough meaningful traffic that people will want to check it frequently. Perhaps there are other UK only venues that will be a better fit to your needs but the current one on Coin Talk seems to be not all that busy including everything in one group. I fail to see how this would improve by splitting it into a half dozen specialities that might get posts every few weeks.
