Yes well people get old. Better to take an attractive likeness of her. Even this pic wrinkles and all is better than the coin where she looks like a harpie

The portrait I don't even mind. But I think the quote alone would have been a sufficient reference to her. Instead somebody decided that a living person should be depicted on a coin. Hmm.

Also, a coin that is primarily aimed at collectors (such as this Special Olympics piece) has a different impact than a coin that was supposed to be for circulation. In that regard, the SBA dollar was worse, I think. ;)

Yet you conveniently ignore the context in which the clearly offending joke was made. Funny how that works, isn't it?

And with all due respect, please don't give me the it's just a response nonsense. You knowingly took not one but two swipes (both highlighted) at those you feel hold lesser political beliefs than you. Had I said the exact same about some Merkel token or referenced her own embraced brand of propaganda, you know as well as I what the result would have been.

I do agree, but this isn't the point. It was another cheap shot that wouldn't have been tolerated had it been a member directing it at the other side. You know it, I know it, and so does anyone who has been here long enough to see and/or are willing to acknowledge the double standard.

EVERYONE has lesser political beliefs than me, and as soon as the world realizes it we will all be better off... :)

Yes, I see. The two posts from 2016 that you point at here are there, and everybody can read them and make up his or her mind.

While I know you keep claiming that, posts from "the other side", as you call it, are dealt with in pretty much the same way. As far as I can tell, that is, I do certainly not expect you to agree with that. And of course there are many factors that have an influence here, from the time of the day when something gets posted to which moderator reads what. We are not machines or bots ...

As for the political character of coins, well, most regular money is issued by countries (local notgeld or tokens are different), and it is the national governments that decide what should be depicted on the coins. In many cases, especially when it comes to dictatorial or authoritarian regimes, the propaganda function of coins (and notes) is obvious.

In a democratic country coin designs are usually based on a broad social consensus. But it still is the government that makes the decision - what do we want to convey, what is the message that we have for the users, and maybe for the rest of the world? In that sense, all coins are "propaganda", and I agree that drawing the line at the right place can be difficult. But by and large insinuations are less helpful than, for example, pointing at posts that obviously or possibly violate our rules.

Then please allow me to offer a crazy idea: don't read it. This has been going on long before your arrival, and isn't going to change simply because you don't like it.

Surely there is someone you can attack for properly holding their coins under the guise of "helping" newbs. Run along now....

You sir are a BULLY and you know how I feel about bullies. Been one all your life? To bad you didn’t grow up in Fir Crest Wa. in the sixties you might be nicer today! It was a great place to learn respect and manners. Stuck in you craw isn’t it, I called you out on coin handling. If gloves won’t work because of your Self proclaimed tiny hands maybe these will help. And they will fill multiple needs for you as well. It’s a finger cott.
    Have a great day,

I’m assuming you told him he needs gloves to hold coins from that comment. In reality You don’t need gloves for coins, any coin. Anything not ultra modern assembled by robots has been touched before by humans and is just fine. All you have to do is hold the edges

Yup. Once I get coins in my collection NOBODY gets to touch them. To think that by sending my raw 1880CC to be Professtionally imaged it could be touched by the professional’s brush of a finger that he didn’t even know came in contact with the coin. Sorry not my level of vendor. And I know high end. Good friend of mine was the head photographer for a little artist out of Seattle for years. I think his name is ....um..... oh yeah Dale Chully that’s the artists name. I got to know him and Dale 30 years ago and used to help with local shoots and helped set up a couple of small installations. So I know professional photographers.
You can come over to my house today and I’ll let you touch these with out gloves. Worth=125k or so

    But not these.

What you allow someone to do to your property is your decision you own them and can do whatever you want to them. If you want people to wear gloves it’s your property so your rules.

That said your wishes/desires doesn’t change the fact that gloves are completely unnecessary and a waste of money buying just to hold coins.

Okay. One day an oops will happen and get missed. Then that 1880CC MS65......oops.......I doubt it will make the fingermark any less noticeable!

Guess what that 1880cc has been touched by many hands before already even as an ms 65. In fact it may have been spent a time or two before as well. As I said EVERY coin besides ultra moderns packaged by robots have been touched countless times by gloveless human hands

Got to know him, but not well enough to know how to spell or even pronounce his name?

No, spelling isn't the point. But it's getting harder and harder to remember what the point is here.

Umm, you didn't call me out on coin handling, nor have I proclaimed anything about my hands, Einstein. That was another fellow who in no way deserved your rank idiocy or big shot talk. If you wish to use gloves, all the power to you, but to pretend that it was all in the name of education only goes to show you know not of what you spew.

As for the rest of your drivel, please... "respect and manners"? Ha! Another "do as I say and not as I do" clown.

Okay you are right I’m sure some scum bag has dipped it already so HE at least handled it. And the tooth fairy and The Easter bunny and Jack Frost and Mother Earth and.........how much more generalizing can we do? You touch the third side of the coin so they are all going to turn black? When they grade all three sides of a coin, and it’s coming, then you no Glover’s are toast so put that in your pipe and smoke it. I use gloves on any EF and above coin, you guys don’t, don’t ask to hold my coins and we’re good. I would LOVE to handle some of your high end raw coins. I need the practice and you won’t mind will ya? I’ll be carefull.......really

Really not sure why you’re going off the rails now. You’re kidding yourself if you think coins from the 1800s haven’t ALL been handled by barehands before.

Or do you think the Carson city mint just shipped coins right to PCGS?
