Ugliest toning ever

    Another "Shake & Bake" I have some Gettysburg quarters sitting
    on my dest for a couple of weeks not has stARTED TO TONE...
    mAYBE i'LL THROW ONE IN THE OVEN FOR A WHILE

    Have not seen a single ATB Quarter here on the Oregon coast, yet!! Denver Mint shield cents up the wazoo, but no quarters? State Quarters used to circulate within their minted year, not so with the State Parks?!

    I don't disagree.

    The only thing I was trying to say is that the name you choose to use for it doesn't change what it is. Toning, the first steps of corrosion, tarnish, patina - they are all exactly the same thing. Even the green patina that so many collectors of ancients are so fond of - that can readily be induced on ancient coins in a matter of hours.

    No comment but is a little more involved (Think Forgery vs Counterfeit), but I can easily replicated this dude work without trying!

    I don't think he means work of art as in he made it , it's his unhonest way of getting away with fleecing the newbs .

    I agree it's firmly in the gray area, and modern clad coins rearly ever tone like this in the real world (And this guys happens to own every rare clad toner in the world no less)! Rainbow 2011 toners? Get real!
