U.S. Mint discontinuing mail orders as 9/30/2017

    You can bet this is a money-saving move by the Mint. Wonder how many jobs will be eliminated...

    2, the person who shipped the order forum to be mailed and the person who handled the 10s of orders they brought back?

    Who knows? Moves like this seldom are in a vacuum and are part of an overall cost-cutting program.

    As a more serious answer probably none in all honesty. The mailings are pretty automated at this point, it will likely just save the cost of printing the order forms and envelopes they kept sending out. I have a hard time believing that it was used enough to have people whose only job was to focus on mail orders.

    That remained me, so I had to check on my order placed May 17.
    It shipped on the 18th and with any luck I'll have it today the 27th.
    I really don't like the FedX smart post or what ever it's called.
