My comments were not intended as support or condemnation for EU inclusion, just support for our brethren in Great Britain. Sorry if they were taken otherwise.
No politics but I too support England - they've always treated me well as I've been a guest in their country. In fact, they usually say "no offence" when calling me a yank or talking about one! Haha!
You might have seen my post with the seller photo - well let me remedy that. North America Continental Confederation State of Connecticut Copper Cent (s.1787) 29.9 mm x 9.08 grams Obverse: Laureate bust of a man left - Latin Legend AUCTORI CONNEC Reverse: Liberty Seated on globe holding an olive branch holding Spear resting on shield. Latin Legend INDE ET LIB Ref: CSC Miller 4-L.
Do you know where & when this piece was made? I'm no expert on the coin. They were made officially & unofficially in large quantities. Your example is high grade but I've got no clue how to key-it-out further. I have a book on the Connecticut copper which you are welcome to borrow. You should take it to the next Hartford show.
Happy 7th of July!! Here are merely the first 10 eagles that I stumbled-across before work this morning
No politics: Sometimes Freedom is confused with Free hand outs. This was a problem on the unusual (and unofficial but silver) Severus Alexander denarius showing the figure of Liberalitas but bearing the legend Libertas. That is not even the most unusual part of the coin. Anyone see it?
Just a few more hours, and I can write "Happy 8th", hehe. That would also be the start of the "Grande Fête Française" here. A three day festival on the weekend before the 14th aka French national holiday. Guess I mentioned that before, but there's always good food, music ... and sometimes even good weather.
That's awesome ... I'm a huge fan of the phallic loaf!! => here are a few more eagle examples (yah, I'm home from work)
