U.S. government adopts Libyan import restrictions on coins

    Ancient coins are legal to own (provided the guy who sold them to you owned them.) You don't need any documentation.

    There have been a few cases where a private lawsuit started by the government of a foreign country claimed some coins were the property of that country. I believe this works the same as if some guy claims you have his diamond ring. Any kind of paperwork you have on the objects may help.
