    Hi CoinTalk,
I have noticed that people like discussing old and newer commemorative coins. I also noticed that there are no threads for people to discuss their commemorative coins. I have a few and plan to get more into the future. Commemorative coins are a part of US history, and how the government commemorated certain coins for certain events or people. The Coin / Coins can be old or new of any sort but can only be US. Here are a couple of mine! Enjoy!

Noah: Do you intend for this to be for moderns, old, or both?

I have a precious few moderns I’ve picked up here and there. Here’s one:

Love the idea! Once my newly won items show up, I'll make sure to post them here. Since there are so many great commemorative coins, I decided to focus mainly on war/military related ones to start except for new releases I decide I like :D

This Pilgrim commemorative is one of my favorite coins. I really admire William Bradford and his faith and find that period of history to be fascinating. I plan to own a really high-end slabbed one down the road.

This one is my only modern commemorative- the obverse reminds me of Alaska. As a kid, I had always read science books with photos of walruses, orcas, bald eagles and such and it seemed so out of reach... then suddenly my family moved there and the real thing was right in front of me!

Was just talking to another member about these. If i were to ever start a new collecting focus i would like to put together a short set of the classic commems. Ive been burnt on a few of these and have flipped a couple for a profit. So ive probably broke even thus far. 20180225_140304.jpg 20180225_135047.jpg 20170618_115916.jpg 20170618_125855.jpg
These are the only 2 examples that currently reside in my collection. NFS !!!!:rage::punch:

Normally I hate moderns, but CircCam, that bottom Silver dollar, is ah-mazing....... <3 The bird is so perfect!!! If the U.S. put that on a regular issue coin I would collect the series in a heartbeat.

ETA: What issue is that? First time in awhile I've been "WOWed" by something.

I'm not CircCam (luckily for him) but this is one of the few modern commems that I do like.

It is the 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative Proof Silver Dollar, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by the President on January 20, 2004, as Public Law 108-486. The coin was produced to honor the Bald Eagle's restoration to America's waterways and skies, commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and celebrate the removal of this national symbol from the Endangered Species List.

I like the Texas as well. And this one, while a bit dark, has some nice color on the reverse.
