Keep looking on eBay too. If you're patient, you should find one at a reasonable price.

So don't have children, then you can have a lot more trinkets. And if you never have the kids, you won't miss them.

Kids are way more fun than coins, but I love them both. Why are we even comparing?

Create an eBay account and buy it there - cheaper. Put the money you'll save on your kid's savings account if you have one.

He's starting to collect coins. If he has a savings account, he won't much longer.

I like these for display purposes my wife grabbed a Irish coin one at a yard sale and I am thinking of buying a british type one from the US, don't have to collect the whole series but you can see all the coins a country does or has done.

Have you considered an album? For both of my boys I did the Whitman 20th century type set album (they also offer a 20th and 21st century album http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/whitman-album-20th-century-types.html which I am going to do for myself to go with my 7070)

    http://typesets.wikidot.com/20th-century-whitman-album

The album is 39 coins and encompasses most of the US coinage without getting into the more pricier coins like the seated and or bust type coins. The costliest coin in the set is just the T1 standing liberty quarter and I put the set together for around $300 plus the albums only cost me $10 on ebay much better than $104 for those holders (think of what coins you can get for $90).

Then grab them a mint set from there birth years and a commemorative dollar from their birth years and you got a good starter coin collection.
