Some years ago I got this Athenian tetradrachm, which while technically is low grade, in hand it has enormous eye appeal because of the deep strike/high relief. Later on I discovered it was a plate coin in Flament (pl. IV, 2) and ex-Glendinning, 18-20 April 1955 no 383. Afterwards I got many other Athens tets, higher grades, other styles, STARR groups, but this coin was still my favorite.

A few weeks ago when I spotted the coin below in an auction list, I jumped out of my seat in excitement...Athena is a die match, while the owl dies are so similar that it could have been the same die reworked. Of course I had to get it and I did succeed :woot:

It seems to me that finding a die match after 2400 years is nearly impossible. So congratulations. That's incredible!

Wow! A die match is a remarkable find by itself for Athens tets but that's absolutely incredible to match it to your plate coin.
