Yes, I'm highly embarrassed to be associated with the lot of you. What will people at a certain other website think of these frivolous interruptions??

Did anyone buy or bid on Lot 331 in the Naville auction, the drachm with an Egyptian-style temple on the reverse? It's a very rare type that I've coveted ever since I first learned about it, but I knew from the outset that it would cost more than I was willing to pay:

    Naville Lot 331 Egyptian temple.jpg

    This was the description:

Egypt, Alexandria. Dattari. Hadrian, 117-138 Drachm circa 134-135 (year 19), Æ 34.00 mm., 23.80 g. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev. L ƐΝΝƐΑΚ·Δ Egyptian temple with pylons with statue of Isis, holding sceptre. RPC 6038.20 (this coin). Dattari-Savio Suppl. Pl. 13, 159 (this coin).

Very rare. Nice brown tone, Very Fine/Good Very Fine.

The starting price was 400 GBP, and it hammered for 1,300 GBP.
