My thought at first, too, but we don't know exactly how the punch was oriented when the date was punched upside-down. I see the right half of the lower curl of the 2 and lower part of the right outside of the 2, but it's tilted a little.
I agree, but I don't see how the angles of the purported numeral match those of a known 2 punch. That is where I have an issue with how this is described.
Ok, just heard back from PCGS. The 1866 doubled date shield nickel graded AU50, and the 1852 over inverted date got the variety on the holder and graded AU details. Yay!
