That is a very dangerous, and inaccurate assumption. Those are contact marks just like the large ones on the cheek bone and in the hair. The coin is grossly over-graded.
Completely Wrong! I own this coin Doug and I know what planchet flaws look like. Those are not contact marks and are nothing like the large one on the cheek. Next you will be trying to convince everyone that the large one is from a shovel scoop again. As for the coin being overgraded, yes it is. I think it belonged in an MS64 holder, but the luster is absolutely blazing for a 1948-S and I am sure that contributed to the assigned grade.
Did not read anything else, just voted and picked the 65. I like the reverse better than the 66. I also liked the overall color better than the 66. Just my opinion.
The 65 any day. I don't know what was going on at anacs when they said that was a 66! Where's monticello?
Sorry to get off-topic but I do not want to start a new thread just for a few opinions. Anyway, Do you all crack slabs to put coins in your album? I really want a full MS roosevelt collection for an album but dont like buying unslabbed because the dimes may not be truly uncirculated...
Nope I don't and I don't recommend it. Do a search for Illini's Post about Crackers Remorse and you will probably change your mind.
As a Jefferson Nickel enthusiast I really do not see the point in the question. Without a doubt the MS65FS even if the MS66 was properly graded and had good eye appeal!
