Gold Coins in a Jar Not really, When I first went out detecting I use a beach machine. I had on a pair of big yellow boots. And I know some of the other metalheads would laugh at me. Because I had no idea what I was doing. I sent for a subscription with "Western & Eastern Treasure" magazine. You can check it out free on line. They sell over 6 million copies. All the information you could ever use in in this book. All types of machines. I like White's machines. I find the best because I use the best. Some people like Fords & some like Chevy's, Take your time. there is no hurry. Use a slow steady swing. Keep the loop to the ground (about 1 inch). Bring a gold ring and some different coins with you. I don't know what machine you use. But it may have a nneter & sound. When you check the ring & coins one at a time. Listen and remember the numbers that come up.Solid sounds usually mean some thing good. Some times it's trash. Also, remove all trash. You may get a positive signal, then it will go away. Sweep again, one time i found a quarter inside a bottle cap. I like to get up on a Sunday morning and check the site I'm working now. I found coins, Revolutonary buttons, surgeons knife (same period). A bull point air hammer tool. I know this site has promise. So I dig with confidense. As for the guys who use to laugh at me. I'm good friends with all people who detect. I donate a lot of items to historical homes, belong to hisorical society's, did adds for White's Metal detectors and had a movie "Treasure Hunt America" done about me and the donations I give out. Enclosed is a picture of a "Chalis" I found down South. I donated it to the Sisters of Charity here in New York. What ever you do, don't give up. The next great find is just around that tree. Regards, Kman413 P.S. Keep in touch and I will hunt with you one day.
