Hello CTWorld, Got this quarter in change about a week ago.. The Airmen on this quarter has a Tear drop.. I've never sold anything or had something appraised. Would this be a quarter worth getting appraised? If not, would selling it be worth trying? What would the start price be? Thanks all for your help and response
No and yes but just keep it if you like, die chips are really common. An LCS wouldn't want to deal with it you could get up to a buck maximum. http://www.error-ref.com/die-chips/...A small piece (less, lump in the affected area.
Thats a cool find but doesn't have much added value. Put in a 2x2 flip and add it to your collection.
Cool enough to keep. There just might be a collector out there that wants it for their die chips collection. Not sure of its value ? $1-3 ? Put it in a 2X2 so you will not spend it. Label it tear die chip variety.
I found 7 quarters in a roll 12 years ago of this "Cow pie on cowboy hat" die chips variety. Link: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/cow-pie-on-cowboy-hat-variety.394425/ Also a chip in between the T and Y in equality. Also on the left side of the horses tail.
Nice setup with the microscope. Looks expensive, too. Beats my 10X loupe, anyway. But I don't think you're going to defray any of those expenses with this microscopic chip. Call it a feeling I got. That's not to say the investment in the setup won't pay off, at some point. Who knows? Stranger things have happened. Maybe one day it will.
Fortuitous placement for a chip. I think it would add some premium to the coin. How much? Whatever someone was willing to pay.
I've noticed that penny baby seems to put extra effort into her posts and learning curve. It would be really cool if this becomes a recognized verity with the name "tear drop".
Not worth grading but definitely worth keeping. That is one neat looking die chip and it’s in the perfect place.
Thank you everyone for the positive feedback I have ordered some coin holders and it will be placed in my collection.. til next time, HAPPY HUNTING
