My wife usually finds 1 or 2 silver coins each day at work when she helps count change at the local newspaper, but that is looking thru $3500-$4000 of change. Three weeks ago she found a 1902 Barber quarter in Fine condition. Last year, an 1894 Indian Head cent in a roll was the oldest coin she has found. Any tokens or foreign coins are freebies for the taking. When my daughter worked at the Dairy Queen (12 years ago) she would bring home $2 or $3 face of silver nearly every week (likely kids raiding dad's desk). Make friends with folks doing business with kids, bank tellers, etc. to watch for you. I've bought change from folks that were just going to take it to the bank, and have had some limited success at finding silver there. I buy some silver from my local coin shop, and some of the groups of 40% halves contain a couple of 90% ones. Getting silver at face can be done, but you won't find a lot of it. My best success has been buying boxes ($500 face) of halves, but the last box was a complete bust.
