I'm very surprised there are not more comments or rebuttals on this new ruling. Suddenly crickets.

All I hear are poor excuses when I ask him to sign his work. That. And crickets.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

He did answer you; you just didn't like his answer. Not getting the answer you'd like is a different thing from not getting an answer. He considers his choice of unused dates to BE his signature. You think he needs more. Stalemate.

Like irony? Here's some. The government can't own intellectual property - no trademarks, patents or copyrights. Dan can. Therefore, anyone ELSE copying his choices of fantasy coins is subject to legal action FROM Dan. Do you like apples? How about THEM apples?

Not valid to whom?? Are you the new "answer god"? Somehow I didn't get that memo.

I guess he just revels in the drama. Signing his work takes away just about all his problems with these overstrikes.

True, but it MAY also remove the appeal of his pieces to his customers. Or it may not. He obviously doesn't want to risk it.

Did you read his response to me? He deflected by making it sound like the SOLE reason the ANA complaint was filed was because he signed his ASE. We all know that guy went after him for other reasons. Like I said, it was just a poorly framed excuse to not do something simple, by signing his work.

    Insider Talent on loan from...

Protecting the ignorant from themselves created the HPA! Stamping beautiful reproductions of 18th century coinage from the Gallery Mint with "COPY" has ruined them. Now, one side of these pieces is UGLY. :(

If I were making these things, I should put my initials on the edge as many "Hobo" nickel artists have done. Come to think about it, that won't save the fools either. Ever hear the stories about the phone calls to dealers asking what "COPY" on the coin was for.

I'm sick of the mentality that if something saves one person... I say the hell with all of them! :rage: :p :D

The potential legal problems and the potential fraudulent sales problems. And the back and forth arguments, lol.

Actually, I suggested this to DC about 1.5 years ago. And it would save many, IMO. Actually, one of the reasons I don't buy hobo nickels, which I love, is because I cannot tell which ones are classic and which ones are newly made. But the initials do help! :)

Give me a break! Since he openly has admitted he wasn't the first to use or copy the 64 Peace date, does this mean whoever was, even if Chinese, should be able to take legal action against your hero for copying them? Do "them apples" apply across the board, or just when it suits you?

No, but they may be able to keep Carr's work out of China, alleging his are an infringement on THEIR work. I don't know about China's IT laws, but since they culturally don't even know what intellectual property is or why it's a big deal, perhaps not.

Well, it was the err, umm, "excuse" Burdette used (Full disclosure: in my personal opinion Burdette is a dope, okay? I don't own one of his books and won't.) so I guess out of an abundance of caution, he won't want to go that route again.

Here's the key thing - the ANA's rejection of Burdette's complaint reads even more broadly as an endorsement of what Carr is doing than Burdette's complaint was covering. I think that speaks volumes.

Burdette and DC had a legal back and forth about Burdette's blind hatred of cats, so I think that right there means both of them should have to sit at the kid's table.

Burdette hates cats? Okay, one more reason I think Burdette is a dope, a moron, and a complete reprobate.
