Truth?

    Sorry took so long. Instructions at site didn't mean anything on my puter. I noticed silver marks also after taking out of holder by indians nose and above eagles head and by tail feathers.

    Thanks for the photos. It's really hard to judge at this size, but those spots are disconcerting.

    Sorry I'm not better at this. My son looked at them and said the silver is above level of coin if that helps. I tried to zoom but couldn't figure it out. Thanks for advice and patience. My dad got it from his dad in 1938.

    I am fairly sure it was once in jewelry, and once silver solder is on gold, it tends to remain, and is considered as damage to the coin. Also with the new photos there is apparent ( at least to me) some "friction" which may have come from the coin rubbing on fabric or such. Details would probably be in the high AU category. But the history of the coin makes it priceless to you.

    From what little I can see in the photos the damage and the wear move the coin from the several-thousand-dollar range down into the several-hundred-dollar range.
