2 things....any rich people out there ever try to spend an AGE/ASE/APE? I was wondering what % of retailers would accept them (at face value of course). Where I used to work in high school we wouldn't accept anything since we got a fake $100 bill once. Someone once turned down a roll of "counterfeit" nickels that were in actuality a roll of buffalo nickels. I wish I could have gotten that. Another time someone tried paying with exact change and one of the nickels was older (still Jefferson) and the idiot cashier thought it was fake...who in their right mind would fake a nickel?

2nd thing....why can't the mint make $1 coins the size of the old silver dollars. I know people hate that idea since they're way too big but I think they're kind of cool. I've got an Ike dollar in the change pocket of my wallet along with a 1957 5 centavo (Mexico) coin for good luck (my favorite football team, the Detroit Lions last won a championship in 1957). Back to Ikes, etc. they just make more sense to me. The bigger the coin the more it's worth (other than pennies, I mean cents, and nickels since they were never silver). Having coins the size of quarters worth 4X as much is just dumb. Lastly, if we must call them golden dollars why can't they at least be gold plated? To the best of my knowledge it takes virtually no gold to plate a coin so it wouldn't really cost the mint a whole lot to make 'em. If they're concerned with price just shrink them down so they're the size of the old 20 cent pieces...that would be better anyways since they wouldn't look like quarters and they'd actually be gold (sort of at least).
