Tristen's Copper & Nickel Finds

Went to the bank today and got a box of Nickels. Found 5 rolls of nickels. Man when I first started I got way more. Also I got 2 but the second was from the Mint and I already had 2 Mint boxes so I will just dump it at another bank.

Got 5 boxes of nickels. 1 Box was from the mint full of 2012 rolls. EDITED And another came from the place where they basically take all the good stuff out so I will be searching through 3.

 

It has been a while since I found a nice George but I found one! I knew the box was going to be good because it did not look like it had been open in forever since it was falling apart. This is just looking through like 5 rolls. Could be many more Georges!

 

Found 18 rolls out of those 3 boxes. Also found a nice 1936 George 5 and possibly an error.

 

Got 6 boxes of nickels. Will be searching them throughout the week.

Box 1 - 14% nickel (8 rolls)
Box 2 - Gave up (Averaging 1 - no nickel nickels in a roll)

 

Box 3 - 7 Rolls

 

I guess now is good as time as any to be buying up cent boxes up there. Supposedly starting February 6th, the banks will be required to ship back the boxes to the mint for melting. Have you heard anything from your banks about this upcoming change?

 

Only one (BMO). Though I am guessing all will. I really gave up on pennies. Not that I was not getting them but the profit was not good really for the time I put in and they are small and sometimes hard to read when you are trying to read them. I personally am only going to do nickels now.

Picked up 5 boxes today. One said on the box poppy foundation sales. Probably from November. I got a bunch saying on the box LPS. They were in the rolls which looks like they take on all the nickel but I opened it and I could see some older ones! I looked up LPS and saw it was like coins for cash like one of those machines. Hopefully I get some older ones that have been in someones coin jar! http://www.lpschange.com/index1.html

 

Well those LPS boxes has nickel but very little. Usually 1 every 2 - 3 rolls. I got 3 from a bank but two were mine I dumped there but got another nice box. I am going to have one bank where I dump ALL my boxes so that does not happen.

It gets harder and harder to get boxes of nickels these days... I got to the first bank. They will only allow me to order 1 box per week due to higher reuest from business owners. Got 2 when I ordered 3. They only wanted to give me 1 but I got them to give me 2. They were already sorted by the machines somewhere. =( Went to the second bank. Only got 2 but lucky these were new unsearched!
