Looks like everyone is meeting up in Costa Rica. Beautiful views. Butterflies and waterfalls, could stay here a while, plenty of coins.
Love this tread! I remember the Mayan women would wear old coins in their necklaces. They wore their wealth. Not a bad idea.
I can't wait to visit Panama, the land of strange denominations. That's something it has in common with its neighbor to the south, Venezuela.
Have some real world work to attend to today, so if my fellow travelers get ahead, I'll catch up. Be careful with Venezuela. Hugo just died and the locals might not know how to react. I am halfway through Panama and should make it to Columbia by the end of today or tomorrow. South America next. This should get me across the canal.
I see you guys are still hanging arround Panama. When you finally catch-up to me in Columbia & Venezuela, then you can use this change: Venezuela 1818 Caracus quarter real (This is an oldie) Columbia (Lazareto) 1901 twenty centavos
Got out of the canal zone and crossed the border to Columbia. A bit wary of cartel activity so going to keep low profile. Only a few centavos and a little silver to spent. Get through Columbia and on the Venezuela. Caution is advised. No Hugo jokes around the locals.
I guess I should post these too. The first is from the Atocha double struck cross 8 reale. The second the wreck of the Johanna off South Africa this wreck was a beach wreck thus the coin has a butter like feeling to it..... Very smooth. The crew who perrished in the Johanna running aground were the first whites burried in Africa! I almost forgot the Atocha cob was purchased from Mel Fisher him self in Key West and the Johanna was purchased years later from Mel's capt. who was with Mel when they found the Atocha as well as getting the cob from him he also sent me some one of a kind pictures of him and Mel the day they discovered the Atocha! Very Cool BTW Jimmy Buffett came out to the ship and the party started!
