How many countries do these interesting types of coins? I'm very familiar with and have a good collection of Bi-Metal types, but so far I've only seen France issue Tri-Metal coins. Example of them on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171539934344
I think France is one of the few countries, if not the only one that managed to have a tri-metal coin for circulation. This is one example I believe South Korea has a commemorative coin in tri-metal. This is a token from KOMSCO.
My collection requires one of these specimens... do let me know if you purchase them and are interested in trading world coins!
There are certainly not many of those 20 Francs circulating online. I have only seen maybe a dozen lots over the last year. On the other hand, I have about 1600+ 10 Francs, these are too common!
Not sure why people consider these tri-metal coins. The inside piece and the outermost piece are the same metal, so the coin is made of two metals, not three. A true tri-metal coins is like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-Fiji-Large-Tri-metal-1-World-Cup-Soccer-Animals-Meerkat-/230828847796 http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Faroe-...6522499?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item1c429ac103
I went through my collection and junk box and found Tri-metallic and Quad-metallic. TRI-Anglo/Spanish/Belgian Quad; East Africa/Spanish/ Belgian
The French coin was slated to replace the 20FF note - but I don't ever remember seeing the 20FF coins outside of seeing them in banks.
Still think I should build a set collection of bi-metallics and so on. Love them. Only have a few though.
here is a true tri-metallic coin with three different metals on ebay. link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281404658795?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2648 this coin is a fantasy coinage not meant for circulation. still very cool to look at.
Mexico issued a pair of commemorative trimetallic 2010-dated coins for the bicentennial of Independence in 1810 and centennial of the Mexican Revolution in 1910. Australia issued a commemorative trimetallic three-coin set for the year 2000, the past, the present and the future, as themes.
