Transit of Mercury

    Ah! I forgot about the Mercury/Prow series. Silly me...
    They are hard to photograph. I have another, a smaller Semi-uncia (Sydenham 87) but it was even more of a challenge.

    AE Sextans 205-195 bce Obv Rev.png
    Semi-libral /aes AE sextans. 205-195 BCE 30.2 grams. Two pellets above head of Mercury / ROMA above prow of ship. Sydenham 85. Grueber 59. Sear RCV 93.

    Nice thread!....But have suddenly realised I have no Mercury in my collection!:arghh:

    But I do have a SOL....Licinius I 1-normal_lictogether-removebg-preview (1).png

    Mercury on a cast sextans.

    My first sextans, Cr 35.5, did not look very good in the seller's pics or in hand, but it was inexpensive - 100 E plus vig.
