I recently got this coin from a show and felt this coin deserved its own post. Although worn, I'm happy to add this iconic coin of Trajan to my collection. Obv-IMP TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC P M TR P Rev-COS VI P P S P Q R RIC 307, seems like this is also a less common variety compared to RIC 292. Although the statue of Trajan on top of the column was later replaced by St. Peter's in 1587. Post any coins showing Tajan's column or anything you feel relevant.
Thank you for posting your Trajan denarius, @JayAg47 . I’ve got few denominations with his image and I’ll have more in a few days—I’m in the process of putting together another set of denarii featuring the “5 Good Emperors.” Here is one of my favorites.

Congratulations for your new acquisition! Indeed iconic and one of the coins I always wanted. Bought one also in July - worn but I will remember that auction. I was hunting 2 Trajan coins - one with the Column and one with the Dacian captive. These are not rare and the condition was not spectacular so I was sure I will get both. ... but the prices went up in the sky, I was not expecting that and I lost the Column (and the soldier) BUT to my big surprise, after a few lots, when I was still cursing in front of the PC, this appeared in the same auction (I didn't notice it before!) Although the coin has its flaws, I am very happy with it and it will make my top 10. Cherry on the cake - the price was much lower than I expected.

It seems hard to find a coin of this type that shows the complete column and the whole statue. Mine shows a nice column but only a small piece of the statue In this thread there are a few examples that show (almost) the complete structure. Nice coins!

I have a Dacia capta dupondius that I got earlier this year from a show, and a sestertius showing Trajan assigning kingdoms from ebay listed as unknown sesterce from a French dealer, and now this coin with the column I found in a dealer's box, all coins were bought unplanned, but I love how my coins of Trajan have a propagandist theme to it!
I need a Trajan's column denarius! Here's one that celebrates one of Trajan's achievements, the construction of the Via Traiana. Trajan, AD 98-117. Roman AR Denarius, 3.39 g, 18.4 mm, 7 h. Trajan offers a wide variety of interesting coins. I was very glad to see this as he is one of the emperors I really wanted (and still want) coins from. I try to add coins having specific reverses, generally speaking, I find them more interesting. This is also interesting - another coin celebrating the victory in the Dacian wars. Similar reverses were used for Lucius Verus and Marcus Aurelius. I got this one and I had the impression I slightly overpaid, but not much anyway and I like the coin. One of the coins I lost this year - and it was a mistake on my side - was a Danube denarius. In a good condition and cheap. I thought I could find it soon. Bad choice.
Here is my Trajan's Column coin. Having seen the actual column in Rome many years ago I had always wanted this coin so when I had the chance I bought it and made it my avatar. This is, of course, the dupondius version. The column also appears on a sestertius version.
That's fine images of those birds, eagles I presume ( though they look a good deal like vultures closing in on the kill).
My Trajan Tetradrachm, has an Eagle. On reverse is there a reason for an Eagle? Can you shed any more info on this coin. Thanks
That is a Tyre tetradrachm similar to https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=8680440 The eagle reverse is well used on Tyre tets.
