I've been wanted to get an ant. of Decius for a long time; though not hard to find in general, I didn't find one I liked with a price I liked as well. I had some credit so I was able to pick this one up for $22.50. Trajan Decius, July 249 - First Half of June 251 A.D. Silver antoninianus, SRCV III 9364, RIC IV 10b, RSC IV 2, VF, 4.268g, 22.5mm, 180o, Rome mint, 250 - 251 A.D.; obverse IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust right, from behind; reverse ABVNDANTIA AVG, Abundantia standing right, emptying cornucopia held in both hands; scarce;

I have one from the Goldberg mixed lot Trajan Decius Rome mint, 249-250 AD antoninianus, 22 mm, 3.7 gm Obv: IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG; radiate bust right, draped & cuirassed Rev: ADVENTVS AVG, Decius on horse riding left, with left hand raised in salute & scepter in other arm Ref: RIC 11b, RSC 4, Sear5 9366
Nice coin at a great price RG. The combination of nice coin and price is right up my alley. Congrats. Since everyone is showing off their Trajan Decius, here is one I picked up at my local coin shop. They do not deal in Ancients and had no idea what it was. I told them I knew the attribution so they said I could have the coin for $20 if I thought it was worth it. Obviously I took it. TRAJAN DECIUS AR Antoninianus OBVERSE: IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG - Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. REVERSE: VBERITAS AVG - Uberitas standing left, holding purse and cornucopia Struck at Rome, 250 AD 3.5g, 20mm RIC 28b, C 105
nice Trajan d.s all, and nice new coin RG...great new coin for the price I think. here's the spot on my table where I hope the put one from "the other Trajan" some day.
Decius not everyone may have seen: A Decius antoninianus was overstruck on a Geta denarius. A late antoninianus has the very abbreviated obverse legend. These once were thought to be from a separate mint but now are considered very late and Roman. The last semis in the Roman series is this 2.7g bronze. Nicer ones are not hard to find. Decius also issued a double sestertius but I sold mine in 1974. That was a mistake.
