trade dollar fake or not

    That looks just like one I saw a few days ago at a flea market, same date, about the same condition, to the sellers credit he clearly identified it as a counterfeit, to his discredit though he was asking 50 dollars for it, I think he was trying to make some of his money back on it.

    I'm with this guy. Sure it's very unusual to have one in this great of condition and there is a good chance of it being a fake, but what makes you guys so sure based on the blurry pics?

    i own some trade dollars, on this trade dollar there is a off set between the cartwheel and the rim. a real trade dollar the rim and cartwheel is the same peice on the coin, there is no off set

    heres a picture of one of my trade dollars. look at the rim and cartwheel, its all the same peice.

    By "cartwheel" do you mean the denticles? "Cartwheel" in numismatics usually is a type of luster.

    yes all the bumps around the rim, it should be part of the rim. i was looking on ebay and there is alot of fake trade dollars on there for sell for $100.00 and up. i seen one sell for over $200.00 and it was a fake.
