Actually, there are account of humans becoming man-faced bulls, like Euthymos of Locri. But you have to die first!

Me too! Nice thing is they are sort of affordable, compared to most Aurei/ however AV Dekadrachms are VERY $$$$$. These were a fair chunk of change back in 180BC!

Picking just 12 is very difficult (I would save my entire collection from a fire, not just twelve : it would take much more time on this issue to select twelve than to run away with the whole ;) )

Anyway, the following virtual tray (not to scale either) is what I picked up at the moment I did it. Tomorrow might show something else, appart from some that have an obvious reason to be here any day: the Romano didrachm for what it represents in RR coinage, the Commodus sestertius found by my grandfather at Verdun battle (BTW it's the centennial of Verdun battle ceremonnies today in France), for instance.

Rather than my top 12, this set would be more accurately described, as a whole, as an "abstract" of my collection : seeing it, you get an idea of what I like to collecting, as a generalist collector

Beautiful group Q. I especially like the Augustus and the Otho. Both have such expressive portraits.

I would grab 5 of your first 6 in a heartbeat. That didrachm is very, very nice.

Man, I don't think I even have 12 coins that are worthy of being favourites......yet. Still working on it. But, I think I'm close.

Thanks for posting all these awesome coins. You all have fantastic tastes! :)

I am paralyzed with indecision about my 12 favorites and therefore unable to make a tray, but I'm enjoying everyone else's efforts! :D

Beautiful Tray. I felt the same as you... in retrospect, I could add ANOTHER Tray of 12... FULL ALBUMS as my favorites.

That said, I want your RR Didrachm and your Pompey Denarius... really like those!

This has been an absurdly stressful exercise! I actually feel angst about the coins not chosen. As it stands, it was difficult choosing only 12 favorite Greeks. Once I started looking at my Romans, I gave up when trying to decide which Greeks to drop.

So... here are my 12 favorite Greek coins on May 29, 2016, at approximately 0920 EST. The list will change at 0930. The coins are in no particular order, other than the first coin is definitely my overall favorite. Favorite 12 Roman will have to be a separate tray.

One thing is clear... I've bought a ton of coins in the last three years and I love them all! Well, I love most of them. There have been a few mistakes. :D

No, I still feel queasy about the whole process :D

Thanks! Yes, that hekte is the new squadron leader for my Pigasus fleet :)

Cheating, but here are my Top 12 Romans. There is at least one I haven't yet shown on CoinTalk. Choosing my favorite Romans wasn't quite as hard, but there are still at least another dozen which deserve to be in this tray :D
