Wonder if any other Roman emperors were so embarrassed by their baldness that they wore a toupee? Not that this is "cool"...

Jokes or not, I still do not understand why people on here deride 12 caesars collectors. That is not cool.

Otho committed suicide to save the empire from unnecessary further bloodshed. Not "cool" exactly, but a selfless act all the same.

I don't worry about it and you shouldn't either. I think the Twelve Caesars is a wonderful sub collection. I wonder sometimes if those who deride this sub collection may be envious. Just a thought. I've had my 12 for a couple years now and am always looking to upgrade.

I am taking the approach that I have the Seutonius Twelve, but in total, I presently have 108 different Emperors, Caesars, and Usurpers in my stable (Albums). They are cool placemarkers in History, and it looks like I still have several to go. Let alone going after the Empresses later in the future... (sorry @Mat you started trading some with me, but those targets will be when you have YOUR set complete :) ) That is for the Original Empire, or the Western Empire. I have the first 3 Byzantines... that could be another daisy chain to chase...

But, still, I enjoy chasing cool coins from the Roman Republic and their Adversaries... That is my REAL passion! This is all just plain FUN for me.

Then, well, Alexander's Generals - The Diadochi are fun to collect too... (their Descendants don't really interest me... lots of backstabbing and cloak & dagger crap...) :D FUN again...

It all comes down to: This is MY Hobby, MY Fun, and I just plain ENJOY it... I learn here, and only focus on what I enjoy. I love all the opinions, learning, ideas, sharing, links, photo tips, etc... all great. (THANK you EVERYONE!!!) But, it still comes down to what I ENJOY and get out of this... :D :D :D

And if folks take jabs at me: Water off a Duck's Back! I have fun jabbing back. :D

When I started posting here (even when I had been "lurking / learning" for a couple years), there were very few RR collectors. I kept posting, commenting, asking, etc... probably being the oddball (hey, maybe except for @Bing ...) and now SEVERAL RR folks have joined! The hobby has several good focus'es (FOCI), that I could care less about... and LOL, I make fun of within my head... But, those other focus are really fun for THOSE folks! :)

    Nirvana for everyone!

No other collectors are ever ridiculed on this board. I have never attacked anyone on this board for any reason and would never think of uttering put downs at someone because of what they collect.

Ask yourself this, have you ever gotten "a rise' out of anyone else by attacking their collecting focus?

I like to think I have been a positive part of this board, and that I have contributed in a positive way. However, to me it is unacceptable that anyone gets attacked in even a "joking" way. Have you ever scorned any other collectors? Can you imagine making fun of someone for collecting LRBS or Greek Tets? I did not think so. Why then do you and others refuse to let people collect what they are passionate about?

Let me repeat, no one deserves to be ridiculed for what they choose to collect.

Orfew - I think you're taking a comment personally that wasn't meant for you, or for anyone in particular for that matter. I see people giving you a lot of positive strokes on your coins as we all do to each other.

    Listen
Listen dude, first of all they are jokes and just that, if you accept that I can't help you, all I can say is I collect Caesars, Greeks, LRB, and anything and everything you can think of. No one attacked you but mearly hinted at how awesome your coins were. Some people can't take a joke, Bing did. Atta boy Bing.

I have been attacked on this board before for my collecting habits and trust me when I say it was definitely personal. It may not have been directed at me in this case but it was addressed to those who have the same collecting focus.

Again, no other focus gets ridiculed like mine. Why is that okay and shrugged off as a joke?

You did not answer my question. Have you tried the same "joke" on others and their collecting foci? You might be okay with insulting "jokes", I am not. That makes me different and not wrong.
