Nice selections, @ancientone. I like your Divus Augustus Æ As, and Cillica AE coin. Both have a great reverse design.
LOVE that Trajan portrait and patina!!! And spooky gorgon from Mallos Thanks for sharing your great year of coins
Great coins! That Scaurus denarius captures most of the lettering on the reverse, which is uncommon. And you've got some rarely-seen provincials in the lot as well. Great finds!
Congrats on a great year! My favorites are the Divus Augustus and the Scaurus/Hypsaeus denarius. As @John Anthony points out, the reverse is way better-centered than most of the specimens one sees.
All great coins but I love your M Aemilius Scarus & Pub Plautius Hypsaeus Denarius. The history behind this coin is fantastic, probably one of the reasons you purchased it, congrats on a great year.
Great list @ancientone ! It looks like you had a good year to me. My favorites; Scarus denarius - Great all around coin! Amorium AE26 - Great eye appeal Trajan AE21 - Wonderful patina
It definitely was a good year My favorites: Augustus from Ionia, Teos; the RR Aemilius Scaurus denarius and the Trajan from Irenopolis
Very interesting coins, especially the provincials. I do like the Mallos alot though. And also the Perga with the chest and purses reverse.
Apparently I forgot how to count. #10 Pontus, Amisos. Æ20. Tyche/Eagle Obv: ΑΜΙϹΟϹ / Head of Tyche r. Rev: ΑΜΙϹΟΥ ƐΛƐΥΘƐΡΑϹ / Eagle standing r., wings open, head l. Time of Maximinus 235-238AD. Thanks to everyone for the positive comments. Means a lot to me.
You had a great year, @ancientone! I am enamored with Roman provincials and you picked up some interesting ones. I like the naive artistry of the Tyche of Amisos. The triassarion of Julia Domna from Callatis is very attractive. The tetrassarion of Severus Alexander from Philomelion has a fun and animated equestrian reverse. I hope you have a great 2022! Happy coining!
To me, that looks like a good year! Both the Republican camel and the Divus Augustus are unusually attractive, and the provincial coins show how diverse and interesting this field of Roman numismatics is.
I like very much that selection, with a preference for the Divus Augustus, the Severus Alexander and the last one from Amisos : strange portrait, I wonder what Tyche is afraid of !! Q
A very nice Trajan portrait on the first coin , I also like the republican denarius and the Divus Augustus As. Congratulations !!
Very nice additions! I like the portrait of Trajan on your first coin, and the look of the eagle on the As of Augustus ("what you looking at?!").
That “chest holding three purses” reverse is enigmatic. As are a lot of provincial reverse designs. A great collecting focus.
