    Great coins. I agree, the flip-over double strike elephant is awesome!
    Your almost unique civil war coin is a great find. (yes, almost unique is an oxymoron)

    I do the same way. I have to sell several the real best Russian Empire silver roubles and poltina from Peter 1 times (beginning of XVIII AC) to buy my best EL / AV ancients. My choice is a gold and electrum coins and I have no any doubts with this choice.

    Personally I could care not one whit if a coin is gold, silver or base metal (though I do like bronze and brass). Coins #2, 3, and 4 exhibit some very fine selections in Roman portraiture. Very fine specimens indeed!
