Toning result from a strand of hair on surface

    Happy Friday Y’all

I wanted to share this as I found it pretty neat. About a year ago I purchased a nickel collection housed in a capital holder. The 1980 proof had toned up pretty nicely and didn’t match the rest of the set. I swapped it with one that matched recently and noticed there was a strand of hair stuck to the surface of the toned coin. It appears the hair had been embedded in the surface and was still attached at 9 o’clock.

I had never seen this and thought it was cool enough to share.

And to keep this interesting... AT or MA

The hairlines on the reverse really kill the eye appeal. :p

    Just kidding, nice coin!

The hair was struck into the surface of the proof coin? That is unique and cool.

Nice looking coin, I don't see anything that would lend me to say AT but with proof coins, you really need to see the coin in hand to render a proper judgement. Disclaimers aside, I say NT, would look great in my album.

The hair landed on the coin after leaving the mint. My guess is that it was on the coin or fell onto the coin when it was placed in the capital holder.
