I have a Trade Dollar with some toning that I have been wondering about for quite a while. It's in a problem free PCGS XF45 holder. When viewed head on the obverse toning, although a bit mottled, looks normal. When tilted at an angle, however, it shows some pasty looking splotches as seen in the following photo:

Is this something that is market acceptable for a circulated coin? Even though it straight graded at PCGS could it have turned in the holder? It is in a newer holder (2014-2015 generation) and doesn't look freshly dipped. Here are photos taken head on:

The entire reverse looks pasty but overall is not unattractive.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

Those spots look like "dip burn."

To me, just my opinion, it looks like it was once darkly toned and then dipped more than lightly. Not sure what caused the spots, maybe areas of lighter toning that were attacked more strongly by the dip acid? I would keep an eye on it for any odd color changes.

Definitely dipped and not properly rinsed. Not attractive surfaces in my opinion

I'll go with a bad dip as well.
