Just a bit of advice. If you are going to try and tone a coin with a taco bell napkin, don't store it on the window sill. Your wife/gf will throw out the napkin and the coin.
well it was 31% today just give me the site where u got the other humidity and ill go find it in there
toning Taco Bell Napkin.... is that not AT? do you wet the napkin? do you a clean or used napkin? do you put the napkin out near heat or in a drawer? do you, question, question, etc.
PVC flip, out laying in the sun. It might just rot green, but I heard it could look rainbowy, do not take my word for it, but that's what I heard.
BQ- do you put the album in the oven?? Dumb question but wouldn't it catch on fire?? By the way I tried vasoline in a window sill on some coins and dark spots developed on both coins like carbon spots? I think you suggested it in another post to me, but I can't remember.
Jack, Heat and Humidity. I have a bunch wrapped in gift tissue paper and taco bell napkins, they are next to the radiator in my bathroom. The Barber Dime that I have in there is turning more than the others, within about a month or less it's just starting to tone along the edges. It's surprising because it's a cleaned VF circulated piece. A friend of mine in Florida makes a fortune doing this, he leaves the coins wrapped in Taco Bell napkins for about a year, they get some really amazing color and they do end up in holders. He's in Miami, it's almost always hot and very humid.
I wonder about this a lot as some of you remeber my screwed up S VBD and 14 D (post NCS debacle). Took my coins to LB coin show today and several felt the S VDB would holder (some of the more respected dealers that PCGS directed me to), but he 1914 D was toast. I have both in an album in about 35-40% humidity. I think toning without humidity might be a 10-20 year process. It does seem however, after about a month, the VDB is toning slightly. My fear is putting these key dates in a humid environment and verdigris or some other nasty stuff grows. AJ in Arizona you might have to put in the bathroom near a cup of distilled water. Great info on the NGC boards about this with awesome photos of the Taco Bell affect, perhaps you all have read these, but they were very helpful to me.
That's the problem with copper, humidity will ruin copper while it won't do anywhere near the damage to Silver and you can pretty much store gold coins in a glass of water.
I just posted the end results photos of the Verdigone on Uncirculated coins in that thread, and you will see something about copper and water!! Jim
