    What you are doing is a fair way to learn how to spot cleaning, AT etc, and when your done you can spend them.

    If it was as easy as you seem to think it is then every coin would already be toned.

    What you are missing is the time needed for most natural toning to occur. with AT'd coins the toning is accelerated in some way and it is extremely difficult to create in hours or days (or even weeks or months) what naturally takes decades to occur.

    Competent numismatists can usually tell when a coin is original and when it has been artificially created, they just don't look the same (with very rare exceptions).
