Thursday again Buoys and Gulls! I'm calling this one Token Thursday. I'm not quite sure if I did this one but here it goes..... Here are just a couple from my collection. Please post your tokens as well. BTW: "Don't be shy, give it a try"
Tea House NCO club is a Vietnam War slot machine token attributed to 1st. Cavalry Division 3rd Brigade. I bought it for the name Tea House. It struck me as an odd name for an enlisted man's drinking club. And because it is holed. Maybe a Cavalryman wore it? There are Vietnam tokens that appear to pay tribute to Asian or Vietnam culture: Rice Paddy Inn and Bamboo Viper come to mind. Perhaps the same thing is going on with tea and Asian Tea Houses? I suspect however the name is really being facetious about booze and drinking--in the same vein as calling a beer bottle opener the "church key."
I have about 500+ different "spinner tokens". Here are a couple: Does anyone else on CT collect these things?
This is the first Conder Token I ever purchased. I thought it was cool that it had another collector's inventory number on it. Sadly, I do not know who that collector was. I have never seen another one with a number written on it. Conder Half Penny Token, Middlesex DH-447, Pidcock's, MS 62 BN. Civil War Store Card, F 165CY-38a, MS 63 BN, R-5, ex. Dave Bowers reference collection.
Lousy old pic, but anyhoo...I think these are interesting... French soldiers swearing allegiance to the constitution, value 5 sols.
