did a quick half dozen cent rolls today before i need to be productive. i kept the 2000 simply for the toning.
I'm probably to blame for that. Somebody posted a Peace dollar once that had yellowish toning, and I said that it looked like someone had peed on it. Chris
No No No.. the proper word is urine. When dry it leaves rainbow toning on copper. You think I'm kidding? I don't have an obsession. I'm stating a fact.
Is anything going on with that 1951 D mint mark? Maybe just a reflection but - http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1951&die_id=1951d1mm025&die_state=mds
For some reason people like to urniate on coins and on copper it looks like yours do. I still like it and the Wheat Cent.
That’s a terrific find in that condition even if it wasn’t an RPM. But being an RPM it is more desirable to a select group and would command a higher premium. The Coppercoins price estimates are like Red Book estimates; higher than you should expect to get and a little higher than you should expect to pay. LCS use gray sheets to price items that they are selling but most Variety coins don’t appear there. So to get a rough number the Coppercoins number at 75% might be more realistic. You can use eBay sold/completed sales, sale prices to generate a better estimate. But again, most varieties aren’t sold as a variety so in the end you’ll only have a rough number. Stick it in a flip, flatten your staples, write down the variety attribution on the flip. I also note the acquired price and my estimated value with a date. Maybe with time our specimens will grow in interest and value. Welcome to our expanding hobby!
