As I understand pedigrees are primarily used to identify all the notes that are part of a given collection as oppose to an individual note. If a collection or collector ever became famous the pedigree could add some value. I am sure there are exceptions but this is how I understand pedigrees are suppose to be used.
So you graded the note yourself and more or less nailed it. You seem to know how to grade currency so why spend $ 100. or what ever it cost just to get someone else's opinion ?. Bill Collector
i believe he did it to have it in a holder more or less. look at all the coins we have that are in slabs even though we can grade them too its always nice to have the extra insurance that its right.
Holy cow, that was a great score for a $550 pickup!! I have a hankerin' to go down to my local pawn shop today. Last time I was in there they had two really nice 1899 $1.00 silver certificate "black eagles" I've had my eye on.
