tbud: Maybe you can spice up this thread and your own reports with some scans of the stuff you are finding... or take my suggestion, and go back to that thread 'you were involved in' (last post of yours was back on 10/12/11) and resume posting in an already established thread with subscribers that already exist or whom may resume their activity there after seeing your finds reported.

Truth is, CT hasn't many active paper collectors at this time who are posting, and much of what does filter through here these days are below average circulation finds, random people with no idea what they have, how to approach note research online or are wanting to know something about bogus errors, which few EVER return to report they had certified and were authentic.

So here's my suggestion from post #11 above: Strap-stackers post your results.

If I had known I wouldn't have spent it, lol. I don't really care about stars so unless they're old (like the two '95s I found) I usually just spend them. I'll be sure to check them from now on as 640K total for a series that is no longer in production is very low.

Where did you say to spend it? I keep all stars and all older and fancy.

It's not such a lame thread. Now we have a little heartbreak over something that passed through ones hands. Sorry you spent your note NOS but it's a great way to learn and not let future finds get by you if they interest you. I'm glad to help you with the resources for finding more info for such future discoveries. Best of luck collecting in the new year! Regards.

Oh never mind, I get it now. Yeah, you should take the extra sec to look it up just to make sure.:smile

Oh, I will from now on. Stars don't do anything for me so it went right back to the bank, lol. I'll check the print runs for stars on www.uspapermoney.info/serials in the future from here on out, though.

How do you get strapped bills that are circulated? Whenever I ask for a brick, they give me a uncirculated, consecutive stack.

I specifically request used, otherwise they would be giving me new...

Except that site doesn't have figures for series past 2003a yet. ;)

I think you mean that the site doesn't have info for the past 2 months. I'm not quite sure what part of that site you are viewing but I use that site for all of the most recent, up-to-date information. It goes up to series 2009 so you better have another look around the site...

Im aware of who Numbers is in regards to the site. I've shared the site and references to him scores of times before you pranced in.

'Pranced' in?? Nothing is more prance than using a word like that! You obviously must not have been to that site in years then, otherwise you would not have made the comment in the first place dude. Make up your mind and find out what your talking about on here because you don't make any sense to me... Quit the attitude or don't comment on my thread please. Your acting as if I 'pranced' all over you in explaing out the website. I even said 'Enjoy!' just to be extra friendly.

    Friendly as always,

    On another note:
Here are todays casino finds. Yes, casino. This would be the first time I went strap searching by running over to the casino. And it's all thanks to NOS for giving me the idea.:thumb:
    1974 $1 LC
    1993 $1 HB
    (2) 2003A $1 LA's (for my 100 strap) and (1) 2003A $1 BA
    2006 $1 fancy (?) L 75 80 80 76 L
    2009 $1 trinary D57733757A - CHCU
    2009 $1 trinary L 88997888G

Certainly not all that great but I think it was worth it..

Yes, "pranced" in here you have, tbud. You're still quite new here and haven't been challenged much on what you've posted. You're now sore for having been contradicted with differing thoughts on your posts here and in other threads in recent days. I'll continue to post where I see fit, be that in "your thread(s)" (as if you or anyone else owned something here) or where ever else there may be a point that's lacking objective ideas, supporting resources or necessary information that you or any others happen to overlook.

If you only knew of my friendly, informative, and helping nature around here, you wouldn't be so resistant to what I have to say in "your threads". Another fallacy you have constructed for yourself, being a newbie to this forum, is how many times in the past year I have indeed been to "that site" and how frequently I have indeed pointed people here (on CT) to "that site". Years since I've been there? Ha! What a laugh. But, that's okay, I know you are new here and have a lot to learn, that is, if you ever come out from these fantasies you keep constructing, in "your thread(s)".

What little you know about why I referred someone to another star note checking web site, is that there is a page on $1 notes on "that site" which is lacking any details past Series 2003A. But why should some infrequent visitor to "that site" point anyone in "your thread(s)" to such a detail. With someone of your circulated grandeur to guide us in the realm of common low grade recent series, bogus error notes and artificial valuations with made up histories to justify keeping notes out of circulation, I can see we will do just fine, an not much better.

These may be better classified as "re-straps" unless new from sealed bricks, therefore none are going to be ChCU. As much as notes pass through a casino (of all "careless" places), the hands put all over the paper, money counters bumping edges, dirty surfaces, cashiers, customers, dealers... come on.

    2006 $1 fancy (?) L 75 80 80 76 L
--- This is not a fancy SN just because it looks close to you. Well at least you threw in a question (?) mark with it. You really should question it more. You really have an imagination that likes to stretch these numismatic definitions.

    2009 $1 trinary D57733757A - CHCU ---
highly unlikely it's ChCU unless taken straight from a brand new strap, so was it a new strap or does it just "look" like it might be ChCU so the old 'horse shoes and hand grendades' evaluation is good enough?

These threads are very weak without images... lets see some! :thumb:

Now, that's a series I hardly ever see, anymore. I think I've come across 1 Series 1993 $1 in the last 2 years, out in the wild, and it was ratty as all get out, so I spent it.

Every time I come across anything nice with Mary Ellen Withrow's signature on it, I get my hopes up that it's a '93, but so far, no dice in the $1 bill department.

I did score a great looking 1993 $20 a few weeks back, though.

It's not so surprising. $1 notes tend to have a life span of about 18-22 months.
The $1 notes are work horses of US currency. by comparison $100s have a longer life span because they are used less often.
