hi all I have an 1889 rupee which someone turned into a brooch

    Question ....should I unsolder it before selling for a better price or not. Oct18d 183.JPG Oct18d 172.JPG Oct18d 172.JPG

The heat might damage the 3 areas.
Is this a high value coin?

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Use the best solder removing technique you can get your hands on. I used to have a spring-loaded vacuum sucker in a prior life.

Since the clasp is broken, one would have to unsolder the old one and replace it anyway. I suspect it is less % of value no matter choice. If I was in this situation, i would put it in a bezel for a pendant or gift it. Jim

If it's lead solder it will probably come off, if it's silver solder there is a good chance it is part of the coin now.
