I’d give it a star, it’s nicely toned. 25% rainbow toning and yes it should get one.

I like the 1881 and think it deserves a star. They normally are booming with luster and I don’t see it in the pictures but figure it’s there with the 65. I bet the color really pops in hand.

Nice coin. I especially like the pull away toning.

 

The rainbow toned area is great, but overall, I think it falls just short. No star.

 

It's a nice coin but I am no star on this one.

 

I think the Morgan should have a star.

@ron_c you can share the rest of the story about that Morgan.

And the floor is open....

 

When I first saw the Morgan on an Auction site, it did not have a * or a + which probably was slabbed before NGC started using the * or + symbols, or it did not, in NGC opinion, deserve either symbol. It also did not have a CAC sticker.

About a week later, it then had a CAC sticker showing, which the auction site sent to CAC. It now resides in a PCGS holder, it also received a + upgrade and was sent to CAC where it also received a green bean.

I'm going to start fresh with the 1884-O Morgan. I would agree with the star.
